Designing an Artistic Fashion Catalog for Marc Jacobs' Heaven 2024 Collection
I was assigned to create a fashion catalog based on a recent or incoming clothing collection during my SCAD printed materials course. Due to my interest in the work of Marc Jacobs', I chose to exhibit his Heaven 2024 Collection by showcasing his celebrity or model ambassadors.
Initial Plan
In the preliminary brainstorming process, I decided that the catalog would start out on Earth and gradually get closer to an idealized heaven, where pages were completely covered by sky. This idea of heavenly ascension would frame the models and products with a divine light.
Designing
Piecing the catalog together was a great opportunity to sharpen my skills in Adobe Creative Cloud. I used multiple programs including: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, and Adobe Illustrator. The technology behind these programs allowed for experimentation with color and image size throughout the catalog.
All images were either directly from the Marc Jacobs catalog website or Adobe Stock. The typefaces used were Uniwars Italic and New Science Regular. All text is aligned to margins and an overall grid system of two columns per page.
Execution
The final A4 printed booklet contains 16 pages with saddle stitch binding. The final printed magazine is accompanied by three Instagram mockups that simulate the release of the collection on social media.
If incorporated into the Marc Jacobs advertising, this catalog would be shared as an artistic way for the first introduction of the collection to reach the audience. It could also be included in promo packages sent to celebrities and other brand ambassadors.
