Redesigning the navigational system for The Nature Conservancy's Cypress Island Preserve.
The Nature Conservancy in Louisiana received a generous donation for the renewal of the navigational system at Cypress Island Preserve in 2025. I've had the wonderful opportunity to fulfill the designer role for this project. We have installed three signs, but have many more in the works!
Visitor Center Sign
To capture the true wonder of Cypress Island Preserve, we decided to fully illustrate the Visitor Sign Map. Preserve inhabitants like the Prothonotary Warbler (yellow songbird in tree on left) sit happily in a curated illustration mimicking the natural environment.
Interpretive Signs
Cypress Island Preserve had two interpretive signs near the Boardwalk trail that were in desperate need of a redesign. For these two signs, we took a visual approached based totally in photography. This gave us the opportunity to show off key species on the preserve in a fun attention-grabbing way.
